This no sew, Christmas Mitten Garland will take you less than 30 minutes to make and last for years to come!

When I moved into my house a year and a half ago, I wasn't at all excited about the fireplace in the living room. It seems like every house has a fireplace and everyone puts their flat screen TV above it. I realized after I moved, I didn't want my TV above my fireplace, but instead I wanted a nice big family photo with a fun frame (which I purchased here).

Shortly after moving and getting settled in, I realized my fireplace mantel was an amazing spot to decorate for the seasons! You see how I go hog wild for Halloween and although Christmas is a little more lax, I still love putting lights and garland across that space. This year I am so excited to show you my mitten garland that is so easy to make! It would make a great addition to your house or you can affordably make this as a gift! Grab some blue or purple mittens and use it through the new year in those cold winter months! The possibilities are endless!

How to Make a Christmas Mitten Garland

I found 4 pairs of children's red mittens at the dollar store. I had some left over faux greens from an old Christmas tree and these gold floral beads and I was on my way to greatness!

Materials:

  • 4 pairs (or more) of children's mittens
  • faux greens
  • gold floral berries
  • twine
  • fiber fill (You need such a small amount for this, I considered ripping open my kid's stuffed animal and using what was inside)
  • hot glue and hot glue gun
  • diagonal cutters

Directions:

  1. Remove the tag from your mittens. Now, there's NO need to remove the little plastic that keeps the pair of mittens together, but if you do happen to get scissor happy and cut that plastic tie, use a safety pin (as shown) to keep your mittens together.
  2. Fill each mitten with a small amount of fiber fill. Stuff it into the thumb, too. This no sew, Christmas Mitten Garland will take you less than 30 minutes to make and last for years to come!
  3. Cut a small piece of faux greens with diagonal cutters and fold in half. Fold down one side of the greens as shown and tuck them into the opening of the mitten. You can affix them to the mitten with hot glue if desired.
  4. Cut the gold floral berries with the diagonal cutters and fold the end and tuck it into the greens.
  5. To hang your mitten garland, hang a piece of twine across your space. Slide your mittens over the twine and pull the mittens slightly apart to separate, allowing you to see both mittens. Slide the mittens along the twine to center them and keep them an equal distance apart as desired.

Do you love them? I do! And I might be making some different colors for the winter season!
