Move over flowers and chocolates, there's a new way to spread the love this Valentine's Day with 28 acts of kindness!
The hustle and bustle of the holidays are over. We are officially experiencing the winter blahs in Michigan, so what better way to liven things up than with some acts of kindness?
My kids absolutely LOVE their school calendar. My preschooler runs to it every day and attempts to read what the next day's activity it is. It doesn't matter if it's show and share a flashlight, pajama day or Ms. Teri coming to teach music, he LOVES looking at that calendar.
That's what made a light bulb go off in my head and I created this acts of kindness list to spread the love this February and Valentine's Day! This is a pretty simple list because let's be honest, there are some days when I just don't have the time or energy to be elaborate.
Most of these acts of kindness are very simple and affordable, if not completely free, to show children simple and easy ways to spread love. We often get caught up in material gifts as a way to show our love, when really, it's simple items such as sharing a hug or smile that are often remembered far longer than any material gift.
Spreading love this Valentine's day with acts of kindness is a great way to eliminate flowers and chocolates and present family and friends with a different type of love this holiday season. Of course, a homemade card and batch of cookies are always appreciated, but they are not necessary!
With a few of the items that cost money, it's quite affordable to encouraging everyone to chip in to buy a stranger a coffee or pay for the person behind you in the morning drive through really shows that generosity doesn't have to cost a lot.
