You'll want to set aside an afternoon to make lots of these easy snowman ornaments to attach to all of your gifts and give to your family and friends this holiday season.
There's just something about snowmen. They are so darn cute. Whether they are teeny tiny lapel pins or giant outdoor light up sculptures, I absolutely love snowmen! You can always hear me say, "Awwww, look at the snowman..." when we are out shopping or passing someone's home while in the car.
Plus, a real snowman is one thing almost every family enjoys making together! I can remember making a snowman as a kid, knees wet from crawling around pushing that wet ball of snow across the yard. Struggling with my sister to try to pick up the second and third ball to make a snowman, and then digging out some stones from our driveway for the eyes, nose and face. We rarely could find any sticks for arms, as my dad always had an immaculate lawn and now-a-days you can buy an entire snowman kit!
I've always wanted a snowman ornament tree in which each and every ornament was a snowman. Of course if you know of my ornament obsession, you know my themed Christmas tree plans never happen. But I still like to buy and hang the various snowman ornaments I have. And these easy snowman ornaments are so cute I may have squealed when I was finished making them.
How to Make Easy Snowman Ornaments
You'll need a few simple craft items to make these ornaments.
- wood doll pins
- white acrylic paint
- scrap fleece or fabric
- blue bakers twine
- black and orange permanent markers
- hot glue
- Paint your wood doll pins with white acrylic paint. Set aside to dry.
- Cut a piece of felt 2.25" square for the hat. Fold up one edge and affix with hot glue to create the brim.
- Wrap the hat around the top of the doll pin and secure with hot glue. Trim any excess fabric.
- Cut a piece of bakers twine and use it to tie a double knot around the top of the hat. Tie the two ends of the twine together to create a way to hang the ornament.
- Cut a 6.5" x 0.25" strip of fleece and fold it in half. Add to the wood doll pin as a scarf by tying a slip knot.
- Use black permanent markers to draw eyes, mouth and buttons on the snowman and an orange permanent marker to draw a carrot nose.
I love these easy snowman ornaments so much that I think I could make them in every single color hat and scarf possible! If you need more fun Christmas crafts and projects, try these:
