Get in the holiday spirit by hosting a fun and unique mitten swap!

The holidays can be hectic. Between running the kids to and from school, after school activities, working from home and then trying to visit with friends and family during the holidays, I am BUSY. I love spending time with family and friends though so it’s important to me to set aside that me time and focus on myself for a change.

When my kids started kindergarten several years ago, I became fast friends with several other moms from my children’s class. We started a yearly tradition of getting together during the holidays and instead of a cookie swap we did a mitten swap. We live in Northern Michigan about an hour and a half away from the Canadian border and winters here can be brutal. We took the idea of the Christmas sock swap and thought mittens would be fun and unique spin. We filled them with ‘mom’ goodies like candy, gum, lip gloss, lotion, hair ties and more!

The date for our holiday mitten swap party is set so I headed out to buy some goodies! I immediately thought back to my childhood. One of my absolute favorite stocking stuffers was candy! That got my wheels turning so I headed to my local Walmart store where I grabbed Skittles®, Starburst®, Life Savers®, Life Savers Gummies® storybooks. The Life Savers Gummies® Sweet Game Book and Crafts storybook and the Starburst® Sweet Selfie Book were perfect additions to my mittens this year.

The Life Savers Gummies® storybooks include fun activities to keep you busy and the Starburst® storybooks include a super cute selfie filter so you can snag a selfie and send friends and family holiday greetings Starburst® style! Best of all, the storybooks won’t break the bank and there is a flavor for everyone to enjoy!

Directions

  1. Remove the tags from the mittens and discard.
  2. Fill each mitten with goodies, including your Life Savers Gummies® Sweet Game Book and Crafts storybook and Starburst® Sweet Selfie storybook if they will fit. My mittens were a tad small so I included the candy with the mittens on the outside.
  3. Once your mittens are filled with goodies, tie them together with twine or ribbon.
  4. Surprise a friend with them!
