This essential homework caddy is perfect for back to school!

This post is sponsored by Welch’s® Fruit Snacks. I am being compensated for this post. All comments and opinions are my own.

School is finally back in session and I am loving it. As a busy mom, I love the summer months. We head to the beach almost every day or we are out on the boat. My kids go to a half day camp during the weekdays and I am able to enjoy some peace and quiet for a few hours. I love summer but it’s now officially over in our neck of the woods. We are now in the process of getting back into a normal school routine. And, although I love summer, I also crave routine. 3 months off to refresh our minds, bodies and spirits and I am ready to jump back into a new school year. Working from home, I need routine and so do my children.

Over the last few weeks I have been searching Pinterest, pinning and planning out lunch ideas, snacks, and calendars. Like many moms, I’m trying my best to get back into a normal school routine and get the kids ready, and on time, for school every morning. With the kids gone most of the day I am able to enjoy a cup of coffee, and organize the house and our lives without interruption.

Back to school time also means the return of homework. What kid actually enjoys doing homework? My children are only in 1st and 3rd grade and even I loathe homework. It’s not really the homework I hate, it’s the complaining. Don’t get me wrong, their homework isn’t much, but to them it’s a lifetime of sitting finishing a work sheet or reading through a new chapter book. My daughters are a little easier to work with, whereas my son is the major complainer of the group. He gets extremely frustrated and it’s hard to calm him down once he gets started. I will try anything once to make homework time easier.

Now that my kids are getting a little bit older and the homework pile is growing, I have tried a few tips and tricks I’ve seen here and there. Some have worked while others have tanked. One tip I’ve learned is to have snacks ready and on hand during homework time. Not only are the kids hungry after school, but snacks help ease the pain of homework, making it more bearable. I know when I have a task to complete, and I’m hungry, having something to munch on makes it much better!

Kids are the same way and Welch’s Fruit Snacks are a great way to save homework time from becoming a burden this school year. I also love having homework ready supplies on hand during homework time.

  • Calculator
  • Markers
  • Glue
  • Ruler
  • Crayons

  • Scissors

I wanted a container to keep everything tidy and in one spot because the kids take turns doing homework. I’ve tried a few times having the kids all sit at the kitchen table all at one time. That didn’t quite work as well as I thought it would. Don’t get me wrong, my kids are good kids but they need to have their own space so we do homework time one on one. I’m usually in the kitchen prepping dinner or working at the food bar so I keep an eye on what they are working on and if they need any help, I’m only a few feet away.
After we figured out what worked for us, I headed out and purchased a container for our homework needs. I also looked through the pantry for some glass mason jars. I always have mason jars on hand as they are super handy and good for storing a multitude of different items. I grabbed all my supplies listed above and got to work. Within minutes I had an awesome portable homework caddy filled with everything the kids need to get their homework done, including Welch’s Fruit Snacks, to ease their hunger and help them power through their homework.

My kids love Welch’s Fruit Snacks, and I love that they are a quick and easy snack, perfect for grabbing in a rush and most importantly, they are mess free. I’m an avid ingredients reader and the first ingredient in Welch’s Fruit Snacks is fruit. They also contain 100% of the daily value of Vitamin C and 25% daily value of Vitamins A and E.

We tested out the homework caddy the other day and it worked out great! Their favorite supply? Welch’s Fruit Snacks!
